Plan To Eat

As always, I am looking for a way to simplify mealtime.  I would also like a way to eat more good food and less junk.  Add to that the need to cut the grocery budget and it is a tall order.  I found Plan to Eat during a Black Friday sale.  I decide to give it a try.   I have spend the last month loading recipes into my recipe book online and will start using the planner in January.  It even creates a grocery list!  So far it is super easy.  I am looking forward to using it!

Cute and Easy Baby Jesus Craft

Here is No Sew Christmas Craft so easy even I can do it.  I love Lacy at Catholic Icing.  I have her preschool ABC curriculum and the Mass Books too.  Her ideas are so cute and easy even This Mom can find time (and not have to be too crafty!).

Check her out!  She has stuff for the entire year!

Cleaning the Dryer Vent

My dryer was not getting the clothes dry in one cycle.  Sometimes not even two.  I clean the dryer vent after each load, but I had never cleaned the vent in the back.

Here is how:

My dryer works better now!  You might want to try yours.

I have typically used this blog as a way to vent, plan, and document what is happening in our life as I have had the time to do it.  This post is not different.  I am overscheduled.  My whole family is.  I am tired.  I don't want to go anywhere or see anyone.  Not that holiday feeling for sure.  Add to that the bronchitis and sinus infection I have been walking around with for 12 days and I am done.  I say that all the time.  This overscheduling has led to grouchy kids, poor food choices, grouchy parents, a messy house and no fun.  I can't even enjoy what we are doing because I have the rest of the stuff hanging over my head.  Time with my husband??  Forget it.  We try, but it seems impossible.  A family meeting is coming soon.  During that we are going to set priorities and make plans for some fun.  My concern is that I see my kids falling into the same habits as their parents.  They sign up or volunteer for everything, they want to try everything, they are disorganized and they are stressed.  We have to make a change soon for everyone's good.  I know life with 4 kids is stressful, but we have not been doing anything to make it easier.  My return to work has caught up with all of us.  So over the holiday vacation, this family is going to do a little reset.  Plans to follow.

Grocery Summary

I had planned to only spend $450 in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving.  I fell short by $189, but I did take a really look at how much we spend on food.  I still need to get better at the grocery budget.  It is on my list of things to tackle for the new year.  I have been trading convenience for budget. I have been buying groceries online at a local supermarket that I know is more expensive and I have not created my coupon binder (another new year project.).  How do you save money on groceries?  Is there a specific store?  Do you use coupons?  Any suggestions are appreciated.
